I’m totally new to this stuff, so please excuse my ignorance…
The only reason I came here is to find a way to edit the metadata for my ODT files to make their create dates and times match what I had recorded (in a separate document). This is because I had to get a new laptop, and when they transferred my files, it reset all the create dates and times in Windows 11 Explorer, which I used PowerShell to change to match what I had recorded that they should be. But on 14 out of 300+ files, the create dates within the files’ properties boxes didn’t match what was shown in Explorer. I learned that was a metadata problem, and the first app I tried to fix it, it turns out, doesn’t work on ODT files. But this one does…
If I can get someone to explain to me IN THE SIMPLEST TERMS what I need to do to solve the following problem, I will happily pay for the premium subscription so I can do more than 3 per day:
When I upload my file and edit the create date and time, it comes back several hours different, and maybe a day off. I’m guessing this has something to do with Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), but that’s just a guess. Either way, the few results I’ve gotten have left me confused because I can’t seem to figure out what to enter to make it come out right.
It there some method to make this calculable? There must be; I just don’t know what it is.
I would really appreciate an easy answer. Thank you for your attention to my situation.

I thought the forum was free. Unless I can figure out exactly how to make just this one feature work for me, I’m not willing to pay for anything. Besides, I don’t work for a company (I’m old and retired). This is just for my personal home use, and it’s probably a one-time experience.

We have successfully reproduced the issue on our side — the time shifting when editing the “Create Date” metadata. We’re currently investigating this behavior to identify whether it’s related to time zone normalization (UTC vs local time) or another factor in the processing pipeline. Your investigation ticket ID is GROUPDOCSAPP-1560. We’ll notify you in case of any update.
While I suppose it would be a good idea to fully understand how and why the time-shifting is happening, I can report that I figured out that if I subtract seven hours (on a 24-hour clock), the app would somehow add those seven hours and produce metadata for my file that had the time stamp I was trying to achieve. It seemed to involve a little extra fidgeting on a couple of the files, but mostly it worked.

Thank you for sharing your workaround and findings, that’s very helpful information. It does confirm our initial suspicion that the issue is related to time zone adjustments during metadata processing. However, we are still investigating this so we can provide a permanent fix, but in the meantime, your approach of offsetting the time manually is a practical temporary solution.
